Experience the comforting magic of a quick and easy tuna mornay. Cheesy, creamy, and ready in just over 30 minutes, this recipe includes celery for crunch and sweetness. Perfect for kids or for meal prep.
Ingredients:
  • 50g butter, chopped
  • 1 brown onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large celery stalk, trimmed, finely chopped
  • 515.00 gm milk
  • 165.00 ml grated cheddar cheese
  • 425g Tuna Chunks In Springwater, drained, flaked
  • 100g bread roll
  • Olive oil cooking spray
  • Baby cos lettuce, to serve
  • Cherry tomatoes, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan-forced).
  • In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat until foamy. Add onion and celery, cook until onion softens. Add flour, stir with a wooden spoon until mixture bubbles, about 1-2 minutes.
  • Take the pan off the heat. Gradually pour in milk in 1/4 cup increments, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Place the pan back on medium heat. Cook and stir for 5 minutes or until the sauce bubbles and thickens. Remove from heat. Mix in cheese and tuna.
  • Divide the mixture evenly among four 1-cup capacity ovenproof dishes. Tear the bread roll into small pieces and sprinkle over the mixture. Lightly spray with oil and place the dishes on a baking tray. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden. Serve with lettuce and tomatoes.
