Uni student classic: Creamy tuna mornay with cheesy white sauce, topped with crunchy breadcrumbs and parmesan. A budget-friendly, satisfying meal perfect for busy nights out.
Ingredients:
  • 250g dried spiral pasta
  • 80g butter
  • 62.50 ml plain flour
  • 378.75 gm pure cream
  • 257.50 gm milk
  • 250.00 ml grated tasty cheese
  • 1 brown onion, finely chopped
  • 425g Tuna Chunks in Olive Oil Blend, drained, flaked
  • 250.00 ml fresh breadcrumbs
  • 82.50 ml grated parmesan
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 200°C/180°C fan-forced. Grease an 8-cup ovenproof dish. Boil pasta in salted water as per packet instructions. Drain.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 30g of butter until bubbling. Add flour and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Remove from heat and gradually stir in cream and milk. Return to heat and stir constantly for 3 minutes until sauce thickens. Remove from heat, stir in tasty cheese, and season to taste.
  • In a small frying pan over medium heat, melt 20g butter. Sauté the onion for 5 minutes until softened. Transfer to a bowl and mix with tuna, pasta, and cheese sauce. Spoon the mixture into a dish. Combine breadcrumbs and parmesan, then sprinkle over the tuna mixture. Dot with butter. Bake for 30 minutes until the cheese is golden and melted. Serve and enjoy!
