Reuben-inspired turkey melt: Ground turkey, thousand island dressing, mozzarella, sauerkraut. Serve with extra dressing for dipping.
Ingredients:
  • 1.3333333730698 pounds ground turkey
  • 1 large clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 0.25 cup thousand island salad dressing
  • 0.5 cup Italian-style bread crumbs
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic salt, or to taste
  • 0.25 cup Italian-style bread crumbs
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 1 large onion, cut into rings
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 8 slices whole-grain sandwich bread
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can sauerkraut, drained
Instructions:
  • In a bowl, gently mix ground turkey, minced garlic, thousand island dressing, and 1/2 cup Italian-style bread crumbs. Shape the mixture into 4 patties and place them on a plate. Sprinkle garlic salt and an additional 1/4 cup of bread crumbs over the patties, pressing gently to help them stick.
  • In a large non-stick skillet, warm olive oil over medium-high heat. Cook patties until beautifully golden brown on each side, about 7 to 10 minutes per side. Place the patties on a serving plate and add a slice of delicious mozzarella cheese on the top of each. Serve and enjoy!
  • Sauté onion rings in the skillet until tender, approximately 10 minutes, adding oil as needed. Season with ground black pepper to taste.
  • Preheat a non-stick griddle over medium heat. Lightly butter both sides of the bread slices and cook each side until golden brown, around 2 minutes per side.
  • Create delicious burgers by stacking turkey and cheese patties, sauerkraut, and cooked onions between slices of bread.
