Create a mouthwatering Thanksgiving-inspired broiled sandwich by stacking French bread with turkey, bacon, Provolone cheese, tomatoes, and cranberry sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 4 tablespoons margarine
  • 8 ounces sliced deli turkey meat
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 8 slices precooked bacon
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 4 tablespoons jellied cranberry sauce
  • 8 slices fresh tomatoes
  • 4 lettuce leaves
Instructions:
  • Switch the oven to broil mode.
  • Cut the bread into four pieces and split lengthwise almost all the way through to make four sandwiches. Spread margarine on the inside of each piece and place them on a baking sheet with the cut side facing up.
  • Broil bread until lightly toasted, about 1 to 2 minutes. Take pan out of the oven.
  • Place 4 pieces of bread on the baking sheet. Top each with 2 slices of turkey, cheese, and bacon. Keep the other 4 slices of bread for later. Let the bread cool a bit, then spread mayonnaise on the cut side of the remaining 4 slices for the sandwich tops.
  • Place the turkey and cheese-topped bread under the broiler until the cheese is melted, approximately 1 minute. Take out from the broiler, spread 1 tablespoon of cranberry sauce on each sandwich, then layer with tomatoes and lettuce. Finally, top with the other bread slice and serve.
