Cherries and pears transform classic upside-down cake into a delicious flavor experience.
Ingredients:
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • 1 can (15 oz) pear halves, drained
  • 3/4 cup slivered almonds
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 quart (4 cups) vanilla ice cream
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch square (2-quart) glass baking dish. Spread cherry pie filling in the dish and top with pear halves, cut side up. Bake for about 20 minutes until filling is heated through.
  • Grind almonds in a food processor until finely ground. In a medium bowl, combine butter, sugar, Bisquick mix, ground almonds, cinnamon, and eggs with a spoon.
  • Pour the batter over the warm pie filling and pears. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the cherries are bubbling and a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow it to sit for 10 minutes before serving.
  • Loosen cake by running a sharp knife around the edges of the baking dish. Place a heatproof serving plate upside down on the dish, then flip them over together. Allow the dish to rest on the cake for a few minutes to let the topping drizzle over it. Serve warm with ice cream.
