Delicious bakery-style pastries made easily at home with puff pastry and pudding mix.
Ingredients:
  • 1 package (17.3 oz) frozen puff pastry sheets (2 sheets), thawed
  • 1 package (6-serving size) vanilla instant pudding and pie filling mix
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 to 4 teaspoons milk
  • 1/3 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F. Gently coat 2 cookie sheets with cooking spray. Unfold the pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface and cut each sheet into 3 strips along fold lines. Transfer the strips onto the cookie sheets and use a fork to lightly prick them all over. Repeat with the second pastry sheet and remaining cookie sheet.
  • Bake pastries for 5 minutes, then prick them with a fork to prevent over-rising. Continue baking for 10 more minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer on medium speed to blend pudding mix, 2 cups of milk, vanilla, and sour cream until a soft pudding forms. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Combine powdered sugar and 3 teaspoons of milk in a small bowl. If the icing is too thick, gradually mix in another teaspoon of milk until it reaches a spreadable consistency.
  • Spread 3/4 cup pudding on one pastry layer, top with another pastry layer and repeat with 3/4 cup pudding. Place the third pastry layer on top, spread icing, and set aside. Repeat the process with remaining pastries, pudding, and icing to make a second dessert.
  • Place chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on High for about 30 seconds, or until chocolate is smooth. Drizzle the melted chocolate over each dessert, then use a toothpick to swirl the chocolate and icing together for a marbled effect.
  • Slice desserts into thick, 2-inch pieces. Cover and chill in the refrigerator until serving time.
