Ingredients:
  • 3 large egg yolks, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups whipping (heavy) cream
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
Instructions:
  • In a 2-quart saucepan, combine egg yolks, sugar, milk, and salt, stirring until thoroughly combined. Heat over medium heat until almost boiling, stirring constantly (avoid boiling).
  • Transfer the milk mixture into a chilled bowl and refrigerate it uncovered for 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally until it reaches room temperature. For convenience, you can refrigerate the mixture for up to 24 hours before proceeding with the recipe.
  • Combine rich whipping cream and fragrant vanilla extract with the milk mixture. Transfer the mixture into a 1-quart ice cream freezer and freeze following the instructions provided by the manufacturer.
