Ingredients:
  • 4 beurre bosc pears
  • 1 litre (4 cups) water
  • 220g caster sugar
  • 1 vanilla bean, split lengthways
  • 30.00 gm cocoa powder
Instructions:
  • Prepare 4 beurre bosc pears by coring them while keeping the stem intact, and then peel them.
  • In a saucepan, combine 1 litre (4 cups) water, 1 cup (220g) caster sugar, and 1 split vanilla bean over low heat. Stir until sugar dissolves, then bring to a boil. Add pears in a single layer and simmer on medium-low heat, turning occasionally, for 15 minutes. Transfer to a dish, cover, and serve.
  • In a saucepan, combine 1 cup (250ml) of pear cooking liquid with 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer for 3-5 minutes. Drizzle over pears before serving.
