Spicy tofu and mushroom lettuce wraps - a flavorful vegan delight!
Ingredients:
  • 0.33333334326744 cup vegetarian hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon water, or more to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon sambal oelek (chile paste), or more to taste
  • 1 tablespoon vegetarian oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 0.5 teaspoon sambal oelek (chile paste)
  • 0.5 teaspoon mushroom seasoning
  • 0.25 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 0.25 teaspoon white sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 slices ginger
  • 5 ounces fried tofu, diced
  • 4 ounces jicama, peeled and diced
  • 3 fresh shiitake mushrooms, diced
  • 0.5 red bell pepper, diced
  • 8 large butterhead lettuce leaves
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds, or to taste
Instructions:
  • Combine hoisin sauce, a hint of water, and a touch of sambal oelek for a flavorful dipping sauce.
  • Combine oyster sauce, water, sambal oelek, mushroom seasoning, sesame oil, sugar, and salt in a bowl to create a flavorful seasoning sauce.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, heat oil. Saute ginger until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add tofu, jicama, shiitake mushrooms, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and pepper; cook until mushrooms are golden brown, about 5 minutes. Stir in red bell pepper and seasoning sauce; cook until heated through, about 1 minute. Remove from heat.
  • Spoon a generous amount of tofu mixture onto each lettuce leaf, sprinkle with sesame seeds, add a drizzle of dipping sauce, and fold the lettuce to create a flavorful wrap. Serve with extra dipping sauce on the side.
