Versatile wedding cake frosting for icing and piping, easily adjustable for desired thickness.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 1.5 teaspoons clear imitation vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon almond extract
  • 8 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
Instructions:
  • In the stand mixer bowl with the paddle attachment, blend shortening, water, vanilla, salt, and almond extract until creamy. Add half of the powdered sugar gradually and mix for at least 5 minutes, aiming for up to 10 minutes for a perfect consistency.
  • Incorporate the rest of the powdered sugar until just mixed. Adjust by adding more water if necessary to achieve the perfect spreading consistency.
