Irresistible sweet and salty cookies that are a breeze to bake and pure joy to devour!
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 10 pretzel rods, about 8 1/2 inches long, cut crosswise in half
  • 2 teaspoons shortening
  • 2/3 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • Butterscotch-flavored chips, melted
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Combine brown sugar, butter, water, and vanilla in a medium bowl. Mix in flour and salt. Form the dough into twenty 1 1/4-inch balls.
  • Lay pretzel rod halves on a cookie sheet. Attach a ball of dough to the cut end of each pretzel rod. Use a fork to create a broom-like texture on the dough.
  • Bake for around 12 minutes until just set. Then, transfer from the cookie sheet and let cool completely on a wire rack for approximately 30 minutes.
  • Line a cookie sheet with waxed paper. Arrange pretzel brooms on the waxed paper. Melt shortening and chocolate chips over low heat, stirring occasionally until smooth. Remove from heat. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the brooms, leaving the top of the pretzel handle and bottom halves of the cookie bristles uncovered. Drizzle with melted butterscotch chips. Allow the chocolate to set.
