Introduce your baby to delicious legumes with this quick and tasty blend of yellow split peas, carrots, rice, and red lentils.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup yellow split peas
  • 4 large carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 0.33333334326744 cup basmati rice
  • water to cover
Instructions:
  • In a small saucepan, mix split peas and carrots and add enough water to cover by 2 inches. Bring to a boil, then simmer until peas are tender, about 30 minutes, adding water as needed to prevent sticking.
  • Place the rice and 2/3 cup water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer until the rice is tender, for about 12 minutes.
  • Take the pan off the heat and stir in the olive oil. Adjust the texture by mashing or pureeing it until it reaches the desired smoothness for younger babies or a slightly chunkier consistency for older babies.
