Create sweet caramel-coated apple balls using an air fryer. The added walnuts provide a delicious earthy crunch, while cutting a ring around the center of the apples prevents bursting and maintains their shape. Try using pistachios or almonds for a different twist.
Ingredients:
  • 100g (1/2 cup, firmly packed) brown sugar
  • 30g dried cranberries, finely chopped
  • 40g walnuts, finely chopped
  • 40g butter, chopped, at room temperature
  • 1.25 gm ground cinnamon
  • 4 gala apples
  • Double cream or crème fraîche, to serve
Instructions:
  • Mix together the brown sugar, cranberries, walnuts, butter, and cinnamon in a bowl.
  • Core the apples using an apple corer. Score the apples around the circumference with a small sharp knife. Fill the apple core holes with the butter mixture. Arrange the stuffed apples in a round cake pan suitable for the air fryer. Cook in the air fryer at 180C for 20 minutes.
  • Distribute the remaining butter mixture evenly over the apples. Bake at 180C for an additional 8-10 minutes or until the apples are soft and the caramel is melted.
  • Arrange the apples in individual serving bowls. Drizzle the caramel mixture from the pan over the apples. Serve with cream or crème fraîche on the side.
