Crispy air-fried Italian breaded mozzarella sticks served with zesty marinara dip.
Ingredients:
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 0.75 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 6 mozzarella cheese sticks, cut in half, crosswise
  • cooking spray
  • 0.75 cup marinara sauce
  • 0.25 teaspoon crushed red pepper
Instructions:
  • In a shallow dish, whisk together egg and water. In another shallow dish, mix flour, salt, and Italian seasoning. Place bread crumbs in a third shallow dish.
  • First, immerse the cheese sticks into the egg mixture followed by coating them with the flour mixture. Repeat the process by dipping them again into the egg mixture and then into bread crumbs until fully coated. Arrange the sticks on a baking sheet and freeze until firm, for about 1 hour.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 360°F (180°C) and lightly coat the basket with cooking spray.
  • Arrange the frozen cheese bites in a single layer in the air fryer, making sure not to overcrowd, and cook in batches if needed.
  • Air fry until golden brown and cheese is just beginning to melt, about 4 to 6 minutes. Repeat with the rest of the bites.
  • Combine marinara sauce with a dash of crushed red pepper for a flavorful kick.
  • Enjoy these irresistible mozzarella bites alongside a side of tangy marinara sauce.
