Slow-cooked fresh apples transformed into smooth, buttery apple butter bursting with sweet fall flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 5.5 pounds apples - peeled, cored and finely chopped
  • 4 cups white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cloves
Instructions:
  • In a slow cooker, arrange the apples. In a medium bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. Pour the mixture over the apples and toss to coat evenly.
  • Allow your dish to be enveloped in flavor as you cook on High for 1 hour.
  • Simmer on low heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and turns a deep brown color, for 9 to 11 hours.
  • Continue cooking on Low, uncovered, for 1 hour. Whisk to enhance smoothness to your liking.
  • Transfer the mixture into clean containers, cover tightly, and store in the refrigerator or freezer.
