Indulgent almond French toast with toasted almonds, perfect with fruits, preserves, or maple syrup!
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup slivered almonds
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 thick slices French bread
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • confectioners' sugar for dusting
Instructions:
  • Toast almonds in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring often, until golden brown, for about 5 to 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • Whisk eggs, milk, flour, salt, baking powder, almond extract, and vanilla extract in a large bowl. Dip bread slices in the mixture until fully soaked, then move to a shallow pan. Cover and refrigerate for about 1 hour.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, combine canola oil and butter. Gently press one side of each soaked bread slice into toasted almonds for a satisfying crunch. Fry bread slices on both sides until beautifully golden brown. Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar for an elegant finishing touch before serving.
