Matzo crack: Crunchy toffee-covered matzos topped with chocolate and pecans for a delicious treat.
Ingredients:
  • 6 whole matzos
  • 1 cup salted butter
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar, packed
  • 20 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
  • 0.5 cup chopped pecans
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Line baking sheets with foil, creating a lip around the edges to catch drips, and generously grease with butter. Arrange matzos on the sheets, breaking in half if necessary.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter with brown sugar until it comes to a boil, then reduce heat. Simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes. Pour the hot sugar mixture over the matzos and spread it evenly with a rubber spatula.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes until the sugar mixture bubbles and thickens. Allow it to cool until the toffee coating is firm, approximately 15 minutes.
  • Melt the semisweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl on Low until just melted. Spread over the toffee-coated matzos, sprinkle with chopped pecans. Chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes until cold. Break into pieces and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer.
