Prepare and stuff mushrooms with shrimp mixture, chill, and bake fresh for a delightful holiday party appetizer.
Ingredients:
  • 20 large white mushrooms, stems removed
  • 1 (4 ounce) can small shrimp, rinsed, drained and broken up
  • 0.5 cup chive and onion flavored cream cheese
  • 0.5 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 pinch garlic powder, or to taste
  • 1 dash Louisiana-style hot sauce, or to taste
  • 0.75 cup grated Romano cheese
Instructions:
  • Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Simmer mushroom caps in water in a saucepan over medium heat for 2 minutes until they begin to soften. Remove with a slotted spoon, drain, and cool on paper towels, hollow sides down, for 15 minutes.
  • After letting the mushroom caps cool, mix shrimp, cream cheese, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and hot sauce in a bowl until well blended. Fill each mushroom cap with about 2 teaspoons of the shrimp mixture and place them in a baking dish, stuffing side up. Top each mushroom with Romano cheese. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours or overnight to enhance flavors and firm up the stuffing.
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C), then bake the uncovered dish of mushrooms for 15 minutes until the cheese is golden brown and melted.
