Indulgent Amish chocolate cake with moist buttermilk. Perfect for families.
Ingredients:
  • cooking spray
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.33333334326744 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1.25 cups brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup hot water
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl and whisk together.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to blend together brown sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time until fully mixed. Slowly pour in buttermilk, then add vanilla extract and mix until everything is well combined.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture in three parts, alternating with hot water, starting and finishing with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let it cool completely on a wire rack after removing from the oven.
