Try our irresistible golden baked apple and sultana crumble for a crowd-pleasing dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 8 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, chopped
  • 75g caster sugar
  • 1.25 gm ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp lemon rind, grated
  • 80g sultana
  • 2 tsp plain flour
  • 90g rolled oats
  • 75g plain flour
  • 110g brown sugar
  • 80g chilled butter, chopped
  • 25g walnut
  • Vanilla ice-cream, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine apple, caster sugar, cinnamon, lemon rind, sultanas, and 2 tablespoons of water. Cook covered for 5 minutes until the apples start to soften. Then add flour and cook covered for 3 more minutes until the apples are tender.
  • Spread the apple mixture evenly into a 6-cup (1.5L) baking dish. Combine oats, extra flour, brown sugar, and butter in a bowl. Use your fingertips to blend the mixture until it looks like coarse breadcrumbs, then mix in the walnuts.
  • Sprinkle the apple mixture with the delicious crumble topping. Bake for about 35 minutes, or until the top turns a beautiful golden brown. Allow it to cool for 5 minutes before indulging in this irresistible treat.
  • Garnish the crumble with whipped cream or ice cream before serving.
