Autumn apple cinnamon bread pudding with creamy indulgence.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (14 ounce) wide loaf French bread, crust removed and bread cut into 2x1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 apples - peeled, quartered, cored, sliced crosswise into 1/4-inch thick pieces
  • 1 cup muscovado or packed brown sugar, plus more for garnish
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 3 cups milk
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Arrange the bread cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake until perfectly crisp, approximately 20 minutes.
  • Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Saute apples for 7 minutes or until tender. Transfer apples to a prepared baking dish along with bread and toss to combine.
  • In a large bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon, and salt, whisking until mixed. Add whole eggs and yolks, whisking until fully combined, then mix in milk, cream, and vanilla. Pour evenly over the bread mixture and cover. Allow to rest at room temperature for 45 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Bake pudding until bread is fully soaked in custard and forms a firm texture, approximately 50 minutes.
