Create a delectable dessert with fresh apples and luscious custard.
Ingredients:
  • 3 large (about 170g each) red apples, cored, halved
  • 1 1/2 sheets (25 x 25cm) ready-rolled butter puff pastry, just thawed
  • 60ml (1/4 cup) bought vanilla-flavoured custard
  • 1 egg, lightly whisked
  • 34.40 gm demerara sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 200°C. Line a baking tray with non-stick baking paper. Slice each apple half lengthwise into 6 thin slices. Cut the pastry into 12 equal squares.
  • Take a teaspoon of custard and dollop it in the center of each pastry square. Arrange 3 apple slices diagonally on top, allowing them to overlap.
  • Bring together two diagonal corners of the pastry towards the center and fasten them with a toothpick. Coat with beaten egg and dust with sugar.
  • Place pastries on a baking tray and bake in a preheated oven until golden brown, about 15 minutes. Allow them to rest on the tray for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack for 15 minutes to cool. Finally, remove toothpicks before serving.
  • Plate the pastries individually and serve right away.
