"2007 Award-Winning Apple Pie Bars: Simply combine oatmeal cookie mix with pie filling for a scrumptious treat!"
Ingredients:
  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Oatmeal Cookie Mix
  • 1/2 cup firm butter or margarine
  • 2 packages (8 oz each) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 can (21 oz) apple pie filling
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F and generously coat a 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, combine cookie mix and butter using a pastry blender or fork until the mixture is crumbly. Set aside 1 1/2 cups of the crumb mixture. Press the remaining crumbs into the bottom of the pan and bake for 10 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer on medium speed to blend the cream cheese, sugar, flour, vanilla, and egg until smooth and creamy.
  • Spread the luscious cream cheese mixture over the partially baked crust. In a medium bowl, combine the pie filling and cinnamon, then spoon it evenly over the cream cheese. Sprinkle the reserved crumbs on top followed by a generous sprinkling of walnuts.
  • Continue baking until a beautiful light golden brown color is achieved, which should take about 35 to 40 minutes longer. Allow the dish to cool for approximately 30 minutes, then refrigerate for about 2 hours to chill. To create bars, simply cut into 6 rows by 4 rows. Store the delicious treats covered in the refrigerator.
