Create irresistible apple tarte tatin in just 30 minutes with this simple French pastry recipe.
Ingredients:
  • 50g unsalted butter
  • 4 medium green apples, peeled, cored, quartered
  • 90.00 gm brown sugar
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, partially thawed
  • Double cream, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 220°C/200°C fan-forced while you grease a 6cm-deep, 20cm round cake pan and line the base with baking paper.
  • In a large frying pan over medium-high heat, melt butter. Add apple and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until golden, turning occasionally. Stir in sugar and 2 tablespoons of cold water, cook for 2 to 3 minutes until sugar has dissolved. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • Place the sliced apples in the prepared pan and pour over the sugar mixture. Cut a 22cm round from the pastry and lay it over the apples, tucking in the edges. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the pastry is golden and puffed. Allow it to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then flip it onto a plate and serve with cream.
