Slow cooker apple and thyme chutney with a hint of Calvados brandy - a delightful twist for Thanksgiving.
Ingredients:
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 3 large apples - peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 2 tablespoons brandy (such as Calvados®)
  • 1 pinch salt
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan over gentle heat, simmer apples, sugar, vinegar, thyme, and bay leaf until the apples are tender and just beginning to fall apart, around 10 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  • Pour the mixture into the slow cooker, then cover with the lid. Let it simmer on high for 1 to 2 hours until it thickens, remembering to stir occasionally.
  • Blend in the rich aroma of brandy and enhance with a touch of salt. Preserve in a sterilized jar, allowing it to cool to perfection before storing in the refrigerator or freezer.
