Indulge in succulent slow-cooked apple and walnut stuffing, generously topped with crunchy walnuts - a sensational side dish.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 medium stalks celery, sliced (1 cup)
  • 1 large onion, chopped (1 cup)
  • 1 package (14 ounces) herb-seasoned stuffing cubes
  • 1 jar (4 1/2 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1 1/2 cups applesauce
  • 2 cups water
Instructions:
  • In a 10-inch skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter with walnuts. Stir occasionally until walnuts are lightly toasted. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the walnuts to a small dish. Mix in honey and nutmeg until glazed; set aside.
  • In the same skillet, melt the remaining 6 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Sauté the celery and onion in the butter for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are crisp-tender.
  • Prepare the slow cooker by spraying it with cooking spray. Combine stuffing cubes, cooked celery, onion, butter, mushrooms, applesauce, and water in the cooker, mixing lightly.
  • Cook the dish on low heat for 4 to 5 hours. Just before serving, top with delicious glazed walnuts.
