Moist applesauce cookies with raisins, walnuts, and warm cinnamon. A crowd-pleasing treat!
Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup shortening
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 0.75 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup raisins
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C) and grease the cookie sheets.
  • Using an electric mixer, blend sugar and butter in a large bowl until smooth. Mix in egg, then applesauce until fully combined. In a separate bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and cloves; add to the applesauce mixture. Gently fold in walnuts and raisins.
  • Using a spoon, place dollops of dough 2 inches apart on the lined baking sheets.
  • Bake until edges are golden brown, for 10 to 12 minutes in a preheated oven. Then, cool briefly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
