Tender pork chops with caramelized apples and onions in a sweet, savory sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 apple - peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 0.25 cup chopped onion
  • 2 (1/2-inch thick) pork chops
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • 0.75 cup applesauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
  • Warm up your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter until sizzling. Sauté apple and onion in the butter until tender, about 5 minutes. Transfer the flavorful mixture to a bowl.
  • In the same skillet, sear the pork chops over medium heat until they are beautifully browned on each side, about 5 minutes per side. Transfer the pork chops to a 9x9-inch baking dish and season generously with salt and black pepper.
  • Combine applesauce, brown sugar, mustard, and cinnamon with the apple and onion mixture. Pour the mixture over the pork chops.
  • Roast the pork chops, covered, in the oven until cooked through, for 30 to 45 minutes, or until an instant-read thermometer reads at least 145°F (63°C).
