Delicious pork chops cooked in applesauce, white wine, and onions, served smothered in a flavorful sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 4 (1-inch thick) pork chops
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, sliced thin
  • 1 cup white wine
  • 4 cups applesauce
Instructions:
  • Sprinkle pork chops with a generous amount of salt and pepper.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the seasoned pork chops. Fill any gaps with butter and onions. Cook the first side of the chops until browned, approx. 5-7 minutes, stirring the onions. Flip the chops and cook until no longer pink in the center, another 5-7 minutes. Use an instant-read thermometer to check for doneness (145°F/63°C).
  • Add white wine to the skillet and bring it to a boil, while gently scraping off the flavorful browned bits from the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon. Mix in the applesauce with the onion and white wine mixture and simmer until the liquid thickens slightly, approximately 5 minutes.
  • Serve the apple and onion mixture over the plated pork chops.
