Flavorful meatballs in savory sauce, perfect leftovers, loved by all, great on ribs too!
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 0.5 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 small onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 0.75 cup ketchup
  • 0.5 cup beef stock
  • 0.25 cup steak sauce
  • 0.5 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons instant coffee granules
  • 0.5 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, 2 onions, curry powder, Italian seasoning, egg, garlic, salt, and pepper. Add milk gradually until the mixture reaches a texture suitable for shaping meatballs (you may not need all the milk). Shape the mixture into meatballs slightly smaller than golf balls and place them in a greased baking dish.
  • Place the meatballs in the preheated oven and begin preparing the sauce immediately. Bake for 30 minutes.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the margarine until sizzling. Sauté the rest of the onions until golden brown. Stir in the ketchup, beef stock, steak sauce, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, instant coffee, brown sugar, and lemon juice. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat and simmer, stirring occasionally until the meatballs are cooked.
  • Take the meatballs out of the oven, remove any excess grease, pour the sauce over them, and bake for another 30 minutes.
  • Enhance the flavors of the meatballs by letting them rest in the sauce. Prepare the recipe ahead of time, cool it, then reheat in the oven at 200 degrees for 15 minutes before serving for maximum deliciousness!
