Delicious South Indian shrimp curry recipe, spicy and juicy, no coconut, perfect with basmati rice or flatbread.
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 10 fresh curry leaves
  • 1 tablespoon ginger garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 0.66666668653488 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground red chile pepper
  • 2 pounds medium shrimp - peeled and deveined
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • chopped fresh cilantro to taste
Instructions:
  • In a wok or large saucepan, heat oil over high heat. Add onions and cook until browned. Stir in curry leaves, then add ginger garlic paste, coriander, and salt. Stir and cook for 1 minute.
  • Sprinkle with salt and turmeric, combine with tomato, chile powder, shrimp, and water. Simmer over medium-high heat for 7 to 8 minutes until shrimp turn opaque. Adjust seasoning with more salt or chile powder if desired. Finish with garam masala, stir, and take off the heat.
  • Sprinkle with fragrant fresh cilantro and enjoy with your choice of flat bread or rice.
