Festive holiday relish made with apples, cranberries, and ginger for a delightful sweet and spicy flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 8 cups peeled and chopped apples
  • 2.5 cups cane sugar
  • 2.5 cups water
  • 1 (12 ounce) package fresh cranberries
  • 0.5 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 0.25 cup chopped crystallized ginger
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions:
  • In a large saucepan, mix apples, sugar, water, cranberries, and vinegar. Boil, then simmer until cranberries break down for about 20 minutes. Add walnuts, ginger, and nutmeg to the apple mixture. Cook until apples are tender and flavors blend for another 10 to 15 minutes. Transfer relish to jars, let cool to room temperature, then cover with lids and refrigerate.
