Slow-cooked beef and bacon chili transforms from chunky to juicy for a comforting meal.
Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 (16 ounce) package thick-cut bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans petite diced tomatoes, drained
  • 2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 0.75 cup beef stock
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, chopped
  • 0.25 cup hot sauce (such as Frank's® RedHot®)
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon ground paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions:
  • In a hot skillet, sizzle ground beef until browned and crumbly, around 5 to 7 minutes. Remove excess grease and transfer beef to a slow cooker.
  • In a skillet, cook bacon until crispy, about 7 to 10 minutes. Drain grease, then add bacon to the slow cooker and mix with beef.
  • Combine diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef stock, onions, bell pepper, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic in the slow cooker with beef and bacon. Mix in chili powder, cayenne pepper, oregano, salt, cumin, basil, paprika, and black pepper until well combined.
  • Slow cook for 5 hours, then stir and simmer for an additional 2-3 hours.
