"Decadent deep-dish quiche topped with bacon roses, Swiss and Gruyere cheese, mushrooms, and green onions - a show-stopping dish for entertaining."
Ingredients:
  • 1 (9 inch) unbaked deep dish pie crust
  • 13 slices bacon, divided
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 cup cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 0.5 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 6 eggs
  • 1.5 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 0.75 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon white sugar
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.125 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a piping hot 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
  • Cook 10 slices of bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat until crispy and evenly browned, about 7 to 10 minutes. Drain on paper towels and crumble.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter with olive oil. Sauté mushrooms and onion until slightly brown and tender, about 8 minutes. Season with 1/4 teaspoon salt and pepper, stirring occasionally.
  • Layer the mushroom-onion mixture, crumbled bacon, Swiss cheese, Gruyere cheese, and green onions on the pie crust.
  • In a bowl, gently whisk together the eggs, cream, 3/4 teaspoon salt, garlic powder, sugar, nutmeg, and cayenne pepper until combined. Carefully pour the mixture into the pie crust.
  • Skewer one end of each remaining bacon slice with a toothpick and roll it up to create a rose shape. Continue with the rest of the bacon slices. Place the bacon roses decoratively on top of the quiche.
  • Place your dish in the hot oven for 15 minutes.
  • Lower the oven temperature to 300°F (150°C) and bake for an additional 30 minutes or until a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean. If the top is browning too quickly, cover with aluminum foil. Allow the quiche to rest for 10 minutes before cutting.
