Transform traditional babka into irresistible French toast with rich chocolate sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 6 slices stale cinnamon bread (such as Thomas®)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 cup chocolate-hazelnut spread (such as Nutella®)
  • 0.25 cup fat free half-and-half
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup
  • 1 pinch salt
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with aluminum foil and spraying it with cooking spray.
  • Cut each slice of bread into three sticks. In a large shallow dish, whisk together milk, egg, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. Quickly dip each bread stick in the egg mixture, ensuring all sides are coated but not soaked. Shake off excess and arrange bread sticks on the baking sheet without touching.
  • Place in the oven and bake for 8 minutes until golden brown. Flip them over, lightly spray with cooking spray, and continue baking for another 8 minutes until fully cooked.
  • In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, combine hazelnut spread, half-and-half, cocoa powder, corn syrup, and salt. Allow the mixture to come to a boil, then remove from heat and whisk until smooth.
  • Serve the warm French toast sticks from the oven with the delicious chocolate dipping sauce.
