Apple and blueberry stuffed pastries baked in orange-infused maple syrup sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup butter, chilled and diced
  • 0.75 cup milk
  • 6 apples, peeled and cored
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 0.25 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon dried orange peel
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C and grease a 7x11 inch baking dish.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and brown sugar in a large bowl. Add butter and mix until crumbly. Pour in milk and stir until dough forms. Transfer dough to a floured surface and roll out. Cut into 6 squares measuring 6 inches each.
  • 1. Put a whole apple in the center of each square, fill the core with blueberries, and drizzle with maple syrup. 2. Pull up corners of dough and pinch edges together to seal, then place dumplings in prepared pan and sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • Mix the leftover maple syrup with water until it reaches a 1 inch depth in the dish. Fully immerse the remaining blueberries and apple peelings along with the dried orange peel in the liquid.
  • Place in a preheated oven for 45 minutes, basting occasionally, until golden brown and crispy. Serve warm with sauce on the side.
