Try this recipe for flavorful pork spring rolls with a crispy outer shell, without the need for deep frying.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup finely shredded cabbage
  • 0.25 cup finely shredded carrot
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger root
  • 0.5 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1.5 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon chile sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 12 (7 inch square) spring roll wrappers
  • 4 teaspoons vegetable oil
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with aluminum foil.
  • Brown and crumble pork in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat for 5 to 7 minutes. Drain.
  • Place the pork in a medium bowl and combine with cabbage, carrot, green onions, ginger, oyster sauce, garlic, chile sauce, and sesame oil until evenly mixed.
  • Combine cornstarch and water in a small bowl.
  • Spoon 1 tablespoon of pork mixture onto the center of a wrapper. Roll the wrapper around the pork, folding edges in to close. Seal the wrapper by brushing seams with the cornstarch and water mixture. Repeat to make the rest of the spring rolls.
  • Arrange the spring rolls on the baking sheet with the seam-side facing down, then brush them with vegetable oil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until hot and golden brown, flipping halfway for extra crispiness, if desired.
