Baked sweet and sour chicken thighs with crispy coating and tangy homemade Asian sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 8 (5 ounce) bone-in chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, or as needed
  • 1 pinch onion salt, or to taste
  • 1 pinch garlic salt, or to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 0.5 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • For the chicken preparation, first, place beaten eggs in one shallow bowl and combine cornstarch and garlic salt in another shallow bowl.
  • Coat chicken in egg, then press into cornstarch mixture.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat oil until shimmering. Sear chicken until golden on all sides, seasoning with onion salt, garlic salt, and pepper as it cooks for 3 to 5 minutes. Transfer the golden-brown chicken to a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
  • Prepare the sauce by mixing together sugar, vinegar, ketchup, and soy sauce in a bowl, then generously pour it over the chicken.
  • Roast the chicken in the oven until fully cooked, 40-60 minutes, with an internal temperature of at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
