Ziti pasta layered with savory beef tomato sauce, creamy sour cream, Italian cheeses, and fresh basil, then baked to perfection.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (16 ounce) package dry ziti pasta
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 (28 ounce) jars spaghetti sauce
  • 6 ounces sliced provolone cheese
  • 6 ounces sliced mozzarella cheese
  • 1.5 cups sour cream
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.25 cup chopped fresh basil
Instructions:
  • 1. Boil a large pot of lightly salted water until bubbling. Cook pasta until perfectly al dente, about 8 to 10 minutes. Drain the pasta before serving.
  • In a large skillet, caramelize the beef over medium heat. Introduce the onions and saute them until they are beautifully tender. Remove any excess fat and stir in the spaghetti sauce, letting it simmer for approximately 15 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect baking temperature.
  • In a lightly greased 2 quart baking dish, spread half of the pasta evenly at the bottom. Layer provolone and mozzarella cheese slices on top of the pasta. Spread half of the spaghetti sauce mixture and sour cream over the cheese.
  • Layer the remaining pasta, cheese, and sauce, then top with Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
  • Place in a warm oven for approximately 30 minutes or until the cheese and sauce are bubbling; then enjoy!
