Indulgent ziti pasta filled with layers of gooey Provolone and mozzarella cheeses, creamy cottage cheese and sour cream, all smothered in a rich meaty sauce bursting with ground beef and sausage.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound dry ziti pasta
  • 1.5 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh rosemary
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 0.5 pound ground beef
  • 0.5 pound ground pork sausage
  • 1.5 (26 ounce) jars spaghetti sauce
  • salt to taste
  • 1 (6 ounce) package provolone cheese, sliced
  • 0.75 cup sour cream
  • 0.75 cup cottage cheese
  • 1 (6 ounce) package mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
  • 1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain.
  • Heat olive oil in a large, heavy skillet over medium heat. Cook onion until tender, then stir in rosemary and garlic before transferring to a small bowl.
  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef and sausage until cooked through. Add the onion mixture and spaghetti sauce, then season with salt. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer half of the cooked pasta, provolone cheese, sour cream, cottage cheese, and slightly less than half of the meat mixture in the dish. Top with the remaining pasta, mozzarella cheese, remaining meat mixture, and Parmesan cheese.
  • Bake in the oven until bubbly and cheeses are gooey, about 20-30 minutes.
