Make a whimsical balloon cake for kids using Betty Crocker® fluffy white frosting, bon-bon cookies, and licorice strings - a fun and tasty treat.
Ingredients:
  • 2 1/3 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 2/3 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 2/3 cup baking cocoa
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tub (12 oz) Betty Crocker™ Whipped Fluffy White Frosting
  • 5 coconut-covered marshmallow bon-bon cookies
  • 6 pieces string licorice
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 13x9 inch rectangular pan with shortening and lightly dust with flour.
  • In a large bowl, blend all ingredients (excluding frosting, cookies, and licorice) with an electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds, scraping the sides of the bowl constantly. Increase speed to high and beat for 3 minutes, scraping the bowl occasionally. Pour the mixture into the pan.
  • Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let it cool for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and place on a wire rack. Allow it to cool completely for about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  • Frost the cake generously, then decorate with cookies and licorice to resemble balloons tied to strings.
