Elevate classic strawberry shortcake with Truvía™ Sweetener and tangy balsamic vinegar for a deliciously flavorful dessert!
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups Bisquick Heart Smart™ mix
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon Truvía™ Spoonable natural sweetener
  • 2 tablespoons cold butter, cut in pieces
  • 1/4 cup fat-free (skim) milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 cups sliced strawberries
  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 6 tablespoons frozen (thawed) sugar-free whipped topping
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 400°F and prepare a cookie sheet with parchment paper. In a large bowl, combine Bisquick™ mix, salt, and 1 tablespoon of Truvia™ Natural Sweetener. Use a pastry blender or fork to incorporate the butter until the mixture is crumbly. Gently stir in milk and water until a soft dough forms.
  • Shape the mixture into 6 balls on a baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
  • In a medium bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of Truvia™ Natural Sweetener spoonable with the strawberries and set aside to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Combine balsamic vinegar and Truvia™ Natural Sweetener in a small saucepan. Simmer over low heat until reduced to 1/4 cup and thickened like molasses. Allow to cool.
  • Cut shortcakes in half. Arrange fresh strawberries on top. Drizzle with rich balsamic reduction. Finish with a dollop of fluffy whipped topping.
