Moist banana bread bars topped with rich brown butter icing, a delightful and easy-to-make dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 1.75 cups mashed ripe bananas
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.75 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup chopped walnuts
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 4 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease and flour a 15x10-inch jelly roll pan.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to creamy mix white sugar, sour cream, softened butter, and eggs. Add mashed bananas and vanilla, then mix in flour, baking soda, and salt for 1 minute. Stir in walnuts until evenly combined, then spread the mixture in the prepared pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 27 minutes until golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Then, cool completely on a wire rack.
  • To make the frosting, melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat until golden brown and bubbling, about 3 to 5 minutes. Remove from heat and whisk in confectioners' sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Smooth the luscious frosting over the cooled banana cake and cut it into delectable bars.
