Indulge in delectable banana flans for a delightful family dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • Fresh banana slices, if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Caramelize sugar in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until melted and golden. Divide into 10 (6-oz) custard cups and let cool on a cooling rack.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, egg white, water, condensed milk, mashed bananas, vanilla, and salt until smooth. Pour mixture over the sugar in custard cups placed in two 13x9-inch pans. Fill each pan with hot water halfway up the sides of the custard cups.
  • Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove cups from water and let cool for 30 minutes. Cover and refrigerate for 3 to 8 hours. To unmold, run a knife around the edge of the custard to loosen, then flip it onto a serving plate. Garnish with the remaining ingredients and enjoy!
