Indulge in crispy, caramelized banana lumpia for a decadent dessert.
Ingredients:
  • oil for deep frying
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar, or as needed
  • 6 large bananas, halved crosswise and then lengthwise
  • 24 lumpia wrappers, defrosted
  • 1 tablespoon water, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Heat oil to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) in a deep-fryer or large saucepan.
  • In a shallow bowl, coat each banana quarter with brown sugar. Wrap each coated banana in a lumpia wrapper, sealing the edge with a water-dipped spoon or finger. Repeat with the rest of the bananas and wrappers.
  • Fry the lumpia in batches until golden brown, approximately 5 minutes per batch. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate using a slotted spoon. Note that some sugar may leak out while cooling.
