Engage kids with fun summer project: DIY delicious banana splits!
Ingredients:
  • 100g good-quality dark chocolate
  • 1 80g Mars bar, finely chopped
  • 200ml thickened cream
  • 4 small bananas
  • 8 small scoops ice-cream
  • 4 ice-cream wafers, halved diagonally
Instructions:
  • Break the chocolate into pieces using your hands.
  • Combine chocolate, Mars bar, and cream in a medium saucepan. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring continuously with a wooden spoon for 5-7 minutes until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth. (To save time, see microwave tip.) Remove from heat and transfer to a heatproof bowl or jug. Let it sit for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to slightly thicken the sauce as it cools.
  • Cut the bananas in half horizontally and arrange in serving dishes. Add a scoop of ice cream and some ice cream wafers on top, then drizzle with a bit of chocolate sauce. Enjoy immediately.
