Green beans with bacon-infused sweet and sour sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 0.25 cup distilled white vinegar
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 4 (14.5 ounce) cans green beans, not drained
  • salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, cook the chopped bacon until evenly browned and crisp, stirring occasionally, for 6 to 8 minutes. Remove the bacon and set aside, then drain the grease from the pan.
  • Combine vinegar, white sugar, and brown sugar in a pan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Add drained green beans and undrained beans. Stir in bacon and gently mix. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Bring the mixture to a lively boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer until the sauce thickens and the flavors meld, around 20 minutes.
