Flaky, soft homemade biscuits - easy scratch recipe, perfect every time.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 0.5 cup shortening
  • 0.75 cup cold milk
Instructions:
  • Collect all the ingredients needed and preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  • Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Use a fork or pastry blender to cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Add the milk gradually to the flour mixture while stirring gently with a fork. Continue stirring until the dough is soft, moist, and comes away from the sides of the bowl.
  • Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and gently knead it 5 to 7 times.
  • Roll the dough into a 1/2 inch thick sheet and use a floured cookie cutter to create biscuits. Combine any leftover dough, roll it out again, and continue cutting out biscuits until all the dough is used.
  • Arrange the biscuits on baking sheets without greasing them and bake in a preheated oven until they turn a beautiful golden brown, which should take around 10 minutes.
  • Savor every bite!
