Elevate the Aussie burger with BBQ skewers for a fun twist!
Ingredients:
  • 6 small bake-at-home dinner rolls
  • 1 egg, lightly whisked, strained
  • 1 1 /18.00 gm sesame seeds
  • 2 Swiss cheese slices, cut into sixths
  • 3 baby beetroot bulbs, trimmed
  • 300g beef mince
  • 20.00 ml chopped fresh continental parsley
  • 2 tsp dried mixed Italian herbs
  • 15.60 gm tomato sauce
  • 18.40 gm canola oil
  • 2cm-thick slice pineapple, cut into 6 wedges
  • 6 strips streaky bacon (tail end)
  • 6 small cherry tomatoes
  • 12 baby spinach leaves
  • 45.20 gm Smokey BBQ Sauce
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 200°C/180°C fan forced. Cut each roll into 3 portions horizontally. Brush the portions with egg, sprinkle sesame seeds on top, and place them on a baking tray. Bake for 10-12 minutes until deep golden brown.
  • Gently slice apart any stuck-together portions of the roll using a sharp knife.
  • Arrange one center piece and one end piece from each roll standing upright next to each other on the tray. Set aside the remaining ends. Top each piece with a slice of cheese on the cut side. Bake until cheese is just melted, approximately 4 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 200°C/180°C fan forced. Arrange the beetroot in a roasting pan, cover with foil, and roast for 35-40 minutes until tender when skewered. Allow the beetroot to cool, then peel and halve.
  • In a bowl, mix together ground meat, fresh parsley, dried herbs, and tomato sauce. Form tablespoon-sized portions into small patties.
  • In a non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat, fry patties for 3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Place on a paper towel-lined tray to cool.
  • Skewer a cheesy bun, pineapple, patty, bun, patty, bacon, beetroot, bun end, and tomato for a delicious stack.
  • Preheat a grill to medium heat. Grill the kebabs for 2-3 minutes per side until slightly charred. Stuff the kebabs with spinach and brush them with BBQ sauce.
