Indulge loved ones with savory beef, tomato, bacon, and cheese pies paired with crispy beer battered chips.
Ingredients:
  • 9.20 gm olive oil
  • 1 brown onion, finely chopped
  • 175g bacon, coarsely chopped
  • 500g 4 star beef mince
  • 400g can Brand diced tomatoes
  • 22.20 gm tomato paste
  • 24.40 gm Worcestershire sauce
  • 60ml barbecue sauce
  • 120g cheddar cheese
  • 20g butter, melted
  • 4 sheets puff pastry, just thawed
  • 1 free range egg, lightly whisked
  • Steamed broccolini, to serve
  • McCain Chunky beer batter chips, to serve
  • Tomato chutney, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 200C. In a large saucepan over medium-low heat, sauté onion, celery, carrot, and bacon until softened. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add the mince and cook, breaking up lumps, until it changes color. Stir in tomato, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and barbecue sauce. Bring to a boil, then simmer on low for 15-20 minutes until thickened. Mix in cheddar, season, and cool completely.
  • Prepare the pie tins by brushing them with melted butter. Cut pastry into 15cm discs and line the tins. Fill the pie tins with the mince mixture evenly. Cut pastry into 13cm discs, brush with egg, and place on top of the mince mixture. Crimp the edges to seal and decorate the pastry as you like. Brush the top with egg and make 2 small slits in the pastry before baking.
  • Bake the pies until the pastry is golden and crisp, about 30-35 minutes. Serve with broccolini, chips, and tomato chutney.
